The Catholic Church in Kyrgyzstan celebrated Pope’s Day

On Sunday, October 6, 2024, a solemn divine service dedicated to Pope’s Day was held in the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Bishkek under the presidency of his Excellency Archbishop George Panamthundil, Apostolic Nuncio of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

On October 4, 2024, an important historical event for Kyrgyzstan and the local Catholic Church took place – the meeting of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov with Pope Francis in the Vatican, where important aspects of relations and cooperation between the Vatican, the Catholic Church of Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz Republic were discussed. Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency George Panamthundil in his welcoming speech to all those present in the church noted the importance of the event. He also mentioned how in his recent declaration Dignitas infinita («Dignity of the Human Person»), Pope Francis emphasized the dignity of every human being given by God, because God loves every human being. The Archbishop thanked Apostolic Administrator Anthony Corcoran, his assistants and staff who prepared his visit and meeting with the authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic.
