Within the framework of the official visit of the President of KR Sadyr Zhaparov to the Italian Republic and Vatican, from October 2 to 4, 2024, he met with Pope Francis. At this meeting, held on October 4, both sides noted the importance of interfaith harmony, spiritual and moral principles and values in the development of society and Kyrgyz statehood. Sadyr Zhaparov invited Pope Francis to visit Kyrgyzstan at any time convenient for him.
Also on October 4, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov met with the Secretary of State of the Holy See (Vatican) Pietro Parolin. The President of the Kyrgyz Republic proposed to consider the issue of establishing cooperation between the Vatican Library and the National Library of Kyrgyzstan, cooperation in the exchange of archival materials. He raised the issue of establishing partnership between medical institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Bambino Gesu Hospital. Within the framework of this visit of the KR President Sadyr Zhaparov to Italy, the cities of Bishkek and Rome signed a memorandum of understanding.
